When Archimedes, a brilliant but socially hopeless 16-year-old mathematician in ancient Syracuse, discovers that nearby Mt. Etna is about to bury the city in lava, he must invent his way out of the gladiator pits, win the trust of a corrupt governor, and convince an entire civilization too distracted by their version of social media to listen — all while trying to figure out how to talk to a girl.
Archimedes is a half-hour streaming comedy set in ancient Syracuse, Sicily around 400 BCE — where the problems are ancient but the behavior is embarrassingly familiar. ARCHIMEDES (Archie), 16 going on 35, is the smartest person in any room he enters and the last person anyone wants to listen to. He has discovered, through careful scientific observation, that Mt. Etna is going to erupt and destroy the city. Nobody cares. They are busy with their SunDial Post Casts.
Archie's journey to save Syracuse takes him from the gladiator holding pits — where he meets SPARTACUS (Sparty), a third-generation gladiator built like a Greek god and loyal to the bone — through the court of the manipulative Governor Creon and his scheming wife Lady Agatha, to the orbit of EMRATA, Syracuse's top SunDial influencer, and DENARIA, the brilliant scientist who has already figured out everything Archie is trying to tell everyone, and has been tracking the volcano for a year. Archie has no idea she likes him.
Along the way, Archimedes invents the lever, the S-trap drain, a proto-syringe, a water diversion system, and stretch fabric — and gets credit for none of it. Think The Great meets The Big Bang Theory: equal parts historical satire, absurdist comedy, and a genuinely warm story about a kid who understands physics but has never once understood people.
"Give me a place to stand, and I will move the Earth. Finding a place to stand is the hard part."
Each episode features a real invention — misattributed to Archimedes for comedy, with a factual epilogue setting the record straight.
