Gilda Hauser Porcari writes commercially viable romantic comedies, half-hour and hour comedy/dramedy, and hour drama original pilots, designed for streaming, network and genre-specific markets. Her scripts center on high-concept hooks, headstrong, smart characters, and international settings — stories with sarcasm on the surface and genuine emotion underneath.
Her script Via Dell’Amore, developed in consultation with Joan Lane, producer of the Academy Award–winning The King’s Speech (Best Picture, 2010), is available for optioning.
Gilda won the 2024 Screencraft Mentor Award with her half hour comedy Change of Pace out of thousands of submissions. She is a 2023 Austin Film Festival Semi-Finalist for one hour dramedy Book of Jeb. She also won the Chicago Screenplay awards in 2022, is a Page Award semi-finalist, and a Stowe Story Labs 2026 mentee.
Gilda brings authentic voice and comedic timing to every script. A former stand-up comedian in the 90’s and 2000’s, she appeared on MTV and Comedy Central. She learned improvisation at Second City and co-founded her own improv troupe, Totally Unrehearsed Theatre in Detroit. Her voice work has been featured in campaigns for General Motors, Ford Motor Company, William Beaumont Hospital, and Grub-Hub. She has shared stages with Ellen DeGeneres and Tim Allen, appeared in the Playboy Comedy Series live at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle in Detroit, and is featured in the stand-up comedy documentary Be Funny (2008).
She holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and has completed screenwriting courses at UCLA Extension, with private voice training from Great Voice Company’s Susan Berkley.
Gilda and her husband Damian split their time between the United States, Canada, and Italy. Seeking representation.
